Communion

Jesus, when you asked us to take the bread and wine in remembrance, did you think we'd forget?

Could we possibly forget the work of the cross, this central point of our existence?

We stand amazed.

And yet, there's something so powerful and intricately necessary in remembering - proclaiming! - in each season of life. Again in this day, and this day, and in this. Each new season, each new year, no matter where we are or what we're fighting or how strongly we are doubting, we take communion in these seats. It's a symbol of how true this salvation is in every area and for all the people.

No matter what.

"This is my body, broken for you."

For the "you" you are today.

"This is the new covenant in my blood, poured out for you."

A covenant of love, for you.

"Take and eat...do this in remembrance of me."

Not that we would forget Jesus, but that we'd forget Jesus died for our now and our today.

Eat and drink, in every season, because what's done is done.

And don't forget.
